Postdoctoral Researcher (m/f/d)

80% (limited, by February 1, 2022 or per mutual agreement, for 3.5 years)

Your tasks

The postdoctoral researcher is expected to contribute to the theoretical and empirical analyses of how labor markets and skill formation systems adapt to a knowledge economy, with a particular focus on digitalization and skill-biased technological change. Within the confines of the overall project, the postdoctoral researcher will have the freedom to develop her/his own independent research. 

Next to research, the postdoctoral researcher is supposed to contribute to the overall project. This includes: 
  • Organization of and participation in an annual doctoral workshop (together with the other members of the team)
  • Organization of and participation in an annual advisory board meeting (together with the other members of the team)
  • Support in the drafting of the annual project report (together with the PIs and the other postdoctoral researcher)

Your profile

The successful applicant is expected to have: 
  • A PhD in political science or a related discipline
  • An interest in theory-guided empirical research
  • Excellent training in social science methodology
  • Strong English skills; German language skills are an advantage but are not considered necessary

The Leading House directors are Giuliano Bonoli (Lausanne), Christine Trampusch (Cologne), and Patrick Emmenegger (St. Gallen). The center's main goal is to develop knowledge about how labor markets and skill formation systems adapt to a knowledge economy, and how these processes are governed by political and economic actors.
