The Institute of Insurance Economics (I.VW-HSG) at the University of St.Gallen seeks to fill a PhD Position (Research Associate) in the Behavioral and Experimental Research in Risk and Insurance research group.
This position provides excellent opportunities to develop valuable analytical and methodological skills and gain deep insights into diverse areas of behavioral insurance economics that are applicable to a broad spectrum of exciting career paths ranging from academia to the financial services and insurance industry. Examples of the current research topics of the team includes
  • Psychology and economics of risk
  • Experimental research in risk management and insurance
  • Decision-making under risk and uncertainty
  • Normative and behavioral insurance economics
  • Health insurance
  • Inclusive insurance
  • Behavioral implications of technology

Your profile

Candidates for this position are expected to enroll in either the PhD program in Finance (GPEF-PiF) or the PhD Program in Management (PMA) at the University of St.Gallen. University of St.Gallen is a member of the Swiss Finance Institute. The candidate should fulfill the following qualifications:
  • Outstanding Master's degree in economics/finance or a related field from a leading university or business school
  • Strong interest in behavioral economics, risk management and insurance
  • Demonstrated suitability to work on analytical problems and solid empirical analysis skills
  • Previous research experience in behavioral economics, microeconomics, risk management and insurance is a definite plus
  • First practical experience in a profession closely related to risk management and insurance is a plus
