Doctoral Candidate and Research Associate in Marketing

100 % (permanent employment contract, starting by arrangement)

Your tasks

  • Conduct and collaborate on research projects related to the sustainable transformation of markets, brands and society (qualitative research in the Consumer Culture Theory tradition)
  • Support teaching activities and the supervision of students at the University of St. Gallen
  • Publication of research articles in leading marketing journals (e.g., Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing)
  • Providing assistance on various ad hoc tasks, such as organizational or administrative matters

Your profile

  • Excellent completed university degree (Master's) (grade equivalent to Swiss system 5.0 or German system 2.0 or better) 
  • Applicants need to have a background in business studies, social sciences, or psychology. Other applications will not be considered 
  • Strong interest in marketing, sustainability-related topics, market transformation, and societal change 
  • Interest in academically rigorous and societally/managerially relevant research questions 
  • Experience with qualitative research methods is an advantage 
  • Experience in (social media) marketing is an advantage; An active professional social media profile is a big plus 
  • Excellent command of English; Speaking German is a big plus 
  • High level of initiative, independence, and organizational skills

Prof. Dr. Johanna Gollnhofer at the Institute for Marketing and Customer Insight is looking for a PhD Candidate and Research Associate starting as early as possible or by agreement.
 
The Institute for Marketing and Customer Insight (IMC) is one of the leading marketing research institutes. It generates novel insights in the fields of marketing, communication, and consumption, which are shared with students, practitioners, and society.

Research in Prof. Dr. Johanna Gollnhofer's team focuses on the sustainable transformation of markets and society, with particular attention to how consumers, brands, and market actors contribute to and experience processes of change toward sustainability.
