Your tasks

  • Research: Your primary research focus will be on developing accessible, reliable, and collaborative AI for law. Specifically, the BRIDGE-funded project (https://www.bridge.ch/en/Ks8ndwLnDwlHqpua/news/bridge-discovery-digitalisierung-als-dominantes-thema) you will be working on aims to help disadvantaged communities access justice. In close collaboration with the project team and Caritas Switzerland, you will work on developing, validating, and deploying legal artificial intelligence tools targeted at legal aid workers at Caritas and laypeople.
  • Team Support: Assisting the project team with publications, presentations, and teaching activities

Your profile

  • Strong interest in the field of legal AI, legal technology, and the implementation of legal automation in practice.
  • Master's degree in Law and Technology or adjacent fields.
  • Ability to meet the admission requirements for doctoral studies at the University of St. Gallen.
  • Interest in interdisciplinary research and a willingness to learn and step out of your disciplinary comfort zone.
  • A community-friendly team player with a reliable working style and strong analytical thinking skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication in English.
  • Preferred: Good organizational skills.
  • Preferred: Experience in academic research or teaching.
  • Preferred: Good oral and written communication in German or French.

  • A master thesis (if applicable) or another substantial piece of writing by the applicant
  • If available: A letter of reference by a professor or tutor that supervised you along your academic path (e.g., master thesis supervisor)
