PhD Candidate in Finance

Your tasks

You will be enrolled in the PhD program under the supervision of Prof. Vesa Pursiainen and work on empirical research projects. Potential focus areas include:
1. Corporate finance
2. Banking and financial intermediation
3. Fintech and the role of technology in finance
4. Behavioral finance
5. Household finance
6. Private equity and venture capital
 
Most of your time will be spent on conducting rigorous academic research. You will have access to extensive set of databases and analytical tools. To a lesser extent, you will also assist in teaching and other activities. Admitted PhD candidates will be hired as research assistants with a competitive salary.

Your profile

  • Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., finance, economics, econometrics, computer science, etc.), to be completed by summer 2024
  • Strong interest in conducting high-quality academic research in relevant topic areas
  • Strong analytical skills (including statistical analysis)
  • Programming skills and experience in handling large datasets
